Five judges will rate projects on a scale of 1-5 for these three arenas: Creativity, Information/Activity and Relevance to the topic, the student’s views on how their future profession will impact this imperative idea. Judge’s scores will be combined and compiled and top scores will win.
Top category winners receive $1,000; additional winners receive $500. The top five Opticianry
students will also win a trip to the 2012 ABO-NCLE National Educational Conference to have their winning
entry featured in the poster session!
For her project, Cynthia created multicultural coloring books for children to color and read while waiting to
see the eye doctor.

Lydia baked cookies to serve as a public service announcement on the importance of eye exams. Reminder cards
were attached to the eye-shaped cookies reminding patients to get an annual ey exam.

For his project, Ryan created a touch screen application to educate patients and recommend local eyecare
professionals.
